Description
Starlink Mini Kit
The Starlink Mini Kit is a highly portable, compact version of Starlink’s satellite internet, featuring an integrated Wi-Fi router in a smaller dish (about 1.1 kg) with a kickstand for quick setup in remote locations, delivering 25-220 Mbps speeds for streaming, gaming, and work, powered by low-Earth orbit satellites with low latency, and designed for easy travel, RVs, or basic home use with rugged, weather-resistant build and app-guided installation.
The Starlink Mini Kit represents a significant shift in satellite internet technology, moving away from bulky, stationary hardware toward a truly portable, backpack-friendly solution. Unlike its predecessors, the Mini is an all-in-one unit designed for the digital nomad, frequent traveler, or off-grid enthusiast who needs high-speed connectivity without the logistical weight of a full-sized dish.
Ultra-Portable Hardware Design
The core of the Mini Kit is its compact form factor. Measuring approximately 298.5 x 259 x 38.5 mm (roughly the size of a thick laptop), it weighs just 1.1 kg.
One of its most innovative features is the integrated Wi-Fi router. By embedding the router directly into the back of the antenna, SpaceX has eliminated the need for a separate router unit and extra cabling. You simply provide power to the dish, and it emits a Wi-Fi signal immediately.
Weather Resistance
It boasts an IP67 rating, meaning it is fully dust-tight and can survive being submerged in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes.
It is built to operate in extremes, from -30°C to 50°C (-22°F to 122°F).
The dish includes a built-in snow melt feature (up to 25mm/hour) and can remain operational in winds exceeding 96 kph (60 mph).
Electronic Phased Array antenna
Despite its small size, the Mini utilizes an Electronic Phased Array antenna with a 110° field of view. It uses software-assisted manual orientation, meaning the Starlink app guides you to tilt the dish at the perfect angle for the best connection.
Power Efficiency and Versatility
The Starlink Mini is the most energy-efficient model. While the Standard dish often pulls 75–100W, the Mini averages just 25–40W. This low power draw is a game-changer for users relying on portable power stations or vehicle batteries.
Flexible Power Options
DC Input: It operates on a wide 12-48V range.
USB-C PD Support: With the official Starlink USB-C to Barrel Jack cable, the Mini can be powered by a 100W (20V/5A) USB-C power bank. This allows for hours of high-speed internet in locations where no wall outlet exists.
Ease of Use and Setup
Setting up the Mini is designed to be a “plug-and-play” experience. The kit includes a kickstand for quick ground deployment and a pipe adapter for more permanent mounting on a pole or vehicle rack.
Because the Wi-Fi router is built-in, the cabling is streamlined. The standard kit comes with a 15m (49.2 ft) DC power cable, which is thinner and more flexible than the proprietary cables used in older generations, making it easier to route through windows or vehicle seals.
Whether you are streaming 4K video from a remote campsite or conducting a Zoom call from a rural job site, the Starlink Mini provides a level of freedom previously unavailable in the satellite industry—true high-speed internet that fits in your bag.
