Design & Rugged Build Quality
The Insta360 X5 360° 8K Action Camera features an ergonomic, vertical body wrapped in impact-resistant materials that weigh just 200 grams. Designed for extreme adventures, it incorporates a groundbreaking user-replaceable lens system, eliminating the anxiety of scratched optics when filming in rugged outdoors. The camera is natively waterproof down to 49 feet (15 meters) without additional housings, making it immediately dive-ready. A high-brightness 2.5-inch touchscreen paired with physical quick-action buttons ensures seamless operation even when wearing gloves.
Video & Imaging Performance
Equipped with dual 1/1.28-inch sensors and a dedicated Triple AI Chip engine, the camera delivers unmatched visual clarity across every frame. By supersampling 11K native captures into pristine 8K 360° footage, reframed flat videos maintain impressive detail on large displays. For high-contrast outdoor environments, 5.7K60fps Active HDR preserves subtle shadow details while controlling bright highlights. Nighttime creators can rely on PureVideo mode, which utilizes hardware AI noise reduction to capture clean, low-noise nighttime drives and urban landscapes.
Smart Reframing & Software AI Features
Shooting with a 360° camera means you record every angle simultaneously, deciding where to point the camera during post-production. InstaFrame 2.0 simplifies this by simultaneously generating an immediately shareable flat video while saving the full 360° master file in the background. The iconic Invisible Selfie Stick effect automatically stitches out mounting poles to generate sweeping third-person angles that look like drone footage. Additionally, switching to Single-Lens Mode turns the unit into a traditional flat action cam shooting ultra-wide 4K60fps video
Battery Life & Audio System
Powering long shooting days is a high-density 2400mAh battery that offers up to 208 minutes of continuous runtime in 5.7K Endurance Mode. When recording demanding 8K30fps footage, you get over 90 minutes of recording, backed by 30W USB-C fast charging that refills the pack to 80% in just 20 minutes. Audio clarity receives a major upgrade via a multilayer steel mesh wind guard and a 4-microphone array, effectively filtering out harsh wind noise while preserving natural vocal clarity during high-speed action sports.
